Concord Christmas charity needs toy donations By Matthias Gafni Contra Costa Times Posted: 12/20/2011 04:35:59 PM PST CONCORD -- Toy donations are down 50 percent at Christmas For Everyone, and the nonprofit is asking people to give to help serve the expected crowd of more than 3,000 to walk through its doors on Dec. 25. Every year, the charity doles out toys, clothes and haircuts on Christmas Day at New Hope International Church, 2120 Olivera Road in Concord, to those in need. But this year, unwrapped toy donations are scarce. "It's partly because of the economy and partly the weather -- no one realizes it's Christmas because the weather is so nice outside," said volunteer Christine Sevier. Donors can bring new toys and clothing to the church from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. up until Christmas. The nonprofit will hand out the gifts from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Christmas Day.
